Historical Event
Selection of the Korban Pesach Lamb
10 Nisan
Location
Egypt
In Egypt, each Israelite family was commanded to take a lamb and set it aside for the Korban Pesach (Shemot 12:3). This act of defiance — tying up Egypt's sacred animal — constituted the beginning of the redemption. The day fell on Shabbat, later commemorated as Shabbat HaGadol.
