Haman's Decree and Esther's Three-Day Fast

Haman issued the royal decree calling for the extermination of all Jews throughout the Persian Empire, scheduled for the 13th of Adar. Esther called upon the Jews of Shushan to observe a three-day fast (Esther 3:12-13; 4:16).
