Zwetschgen Ta'anit of Bamberg

During a commercial crisis in Bamberg, Germany, a mob attacked the local Jews (1699). One Jew saved himself by hurling prunes from an upper window at the attackers. The community established a fast day and a local Purim celebration to mark the event — observed until the destruction of the Bamberg Jewish community.
