Rav Aharon HaGadol of Karlin (1736–1772), one of the foremost disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch and a pioneering disseminator of Chassidic teaching in Lithuania-Belarus during his brief 36-year life. He authored the beloved Shabbat hymn 'Kah Echsof.' He was the founder of the Karlin-Stolin dynasty.
