Rav Chaim Halberstam of Sanz (1793-1876), author of Divrei Chaim and founder of the Sanzer Chassidic dynasty. One of the greatest halachic authorities and Chassidic leaders of 19th-century Galicia, he was renowned for his extraordinary charity and his fierce dedication to Torah and halachah. From his descendants came the dynasties of Bobov, Klausenburg, and many others.
