Rabbi Meir Bar-Ilan (Berlin) (1880–1949), the esteemed leader of the Mizrachi (Religious Zionist) movement, a distinguished scholar and author. He worked tirelessly to promote religious Zionism and the integration of Torah values with the building of the Jewish state. Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel, is named in his memory.
