Rav Menachem Mendel of Shklov

Leader of the aliya of the followers of the Vilna Gaon to Eretz Yisrael. This is significant because of the many Minhagei Yerushalayim established by that Ashkenazi community. His leading student, Yitzchak Eizik Chaver Wildmann (1789-1853), authored Pischey She'arim, vindicating the kabbalah and demonstrating its power to address man's deepest questions about the universe.
