The most illustrious figure in Judaism in the post-Talmudic era: Talmudist, halachic codifier, philosopher, and physician. Author of the Mishneh Torah, Guide for the Perplexed, and Commentary on the Mishnah. The inscription on his grave in Tiberias reads: 'From Moses to Moses, none arose as Moses.'
