Rav Yisrael Alter

The Beis Yisrael of Ger (1895-1977). The third son of the Imrei Emes. He escaped to Eretz Yisrael in 1940, but tragically lost his wife, daughter, and son in the Holocaust, learning of their fate only in 1945. After his father's petira, he assumed the mantle as the fourth Rebbe of Ger. For the next 29 years, he rebuilt Ger and was a major force in the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah.
