Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik (1903-1993), known as 'The Rav,' Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) and one of the most influential Orthodox thinkers of the 20th century. He was the scion of the illustrious Brisk rabbinical dynasty and authored groundbreaking works on halachah and Jewish philosophy, including Halakhic Man and The Lonely Man of Faith.
