About “Negev” in Hebrew

The Negev is the vast desert region covering southern Israel, home to the ancient Nabatean city of Avdat, the Ramon Crater, and the city of Be'er Sheva where Abraham dug wells. David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, believed the future of Israel lay in making the Negev bloom and retired to Kibbutz Sde Boker in the desert to demonstrate his conviction.
