About “Soul” in Hebrew

Neshamah shares its root with the word neshimah (breath), reflecting the belief that the soul is the divine breath God breathed into Adam. Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) describes five levels of the soul, with neshamah being the higher spiritual dimension connected to intellect and divine awareness. In modern Israeli slang, calling someone 'neshamah' is a term of deep endearment.
