The Journey

1
Mount Carmel

The greatest showdown in the Tanakh. Elijah confronts 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. When Elijah prays, fire from heaven consumes his offering, the wood, the stones, and the water in the trench.

I Kings 18:38

Then fire from GOD descended and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the earth; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

Thereupon Elijah took his mantle and, rolling it up, he struck the water; it divided to the right and left, so that the two of them crossed over on dry land.

4
Beyond the Jordan — Ascent

A chariot of fire and horses of fire appear, and Elijah goes up by a whirlwind into heaven. Elisha cries out: 'My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!'

As they kept on walking and talking, a fiery chariot with fiery horses suddenly appeared and separated one from the other; and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
