About “Blessed” in Hebrew

Baruch is the opening word of virtually every Jewish blessing: 'Baruch atah Adonai'—Blessed are You, Lord. It appears hundreds of times in Jewish liturgy and is one of the most frequently spoken Hebrew words in Jewish life. The word also serves as a popular given name, famously borne by the philosopher Baruch Spinoza and the prophet Jeremiah's scribe Baruch ben Neriah.
