About “Blue” in Hebrew

Blue (kachol) is deeply significant in Judaism—the tekhelet dye used for the fringes (tzitzit) of the prayer shawl was a sacred blue extracted from a sea snail. The Israeli flag features blue stripes inspired by the tallit (prayer shawl), and blue symbolizes divinity, sky, and the sea. The combination of blue and white has become synonymous with Jewish and Israeli identity.
