About “Holiness” in Hebrew

Kedushah comes from the root k-d-sh meaning 'set apart' or 'separate.' The concept of holiness in Judaism is about elevating the everyday—making ordinary acts sacred through intention and blessing. Kedushah is also the name of a central prayer in the synagogue service where the congregation recites 'kadosh, kadosh, kadosh' (holy, holy, holy).
