Family is the cornerstone of Jewish life, and mishpacha encompasses both the immediate and extended family unit. In Israel, family gatherings on Shabbat and holidays are near-universal traditions. The concept extends beyond blood relatives—the entire Jewish people are often referred to as one large mishpacha.
