My favorite space in our apartment is our marpeset (balcony). We live on the top floor and so after climbing the 52 steps (but who's counting?!) we are rewarded with the most stunning balcony views in all of Bet Shemesh (I may be a bit bias).

From my porch, you can see the homes of Old Bet Shemesh, the historic Sorek Valley, fields, mountains, forests, and an ancient monastery. You can see for miles - all the way to the outskirts of Tel Aviv. You can even see the horizon of the Mediterranean Ocean on a clear day. The kever (burial place) of Shimshon haTzadik (Sampson the Great) is visible on one of the mountaintops to the east. Not to mention the ever changing clouds, the magnificent sunsets, and the flocks of wild bright green ring-neck parakeets that like to perch on the neighboring antenna!

Oh, how I love sitting on my porch with my watercolors or sipping on my morning coffee, basking in it all.

Giclée print of painting "Summer Evening Stroll in Israel" on archival paper (Moab's Somerset Enhanced Velvet - with a slightly textured matte surface) with a 1" border.
